NEPALESE PASHMINA
Pashmina products:
5. Weaving
As pashmina is very soft, its yarn is also very delicate & fragile, thus requiring very skilled craftsmanship of weaving. The weaving of the traditional 100% pashmina shawls is therefore done on handlooms. Weaving in this case is done with a shuttle carrying the soft pashmina yarn either through pashmina yarn warp or the fine but strong silk yarn warp. It takes about few days to weave a single pashmina shawl. The weaving technique differs according to the type of pashmina products. Different types of looms are required to weave different types of pashmina products like shawl, stoles, blankets, scarves, fabric, etc.,. Knitting machine are used for sweaters, cardigans, mufflers, caps and other knitted items etc.
6. Washing
The woven/knitted products are thoroughly washed manually or in the washing machine to remove dirt, stains etc.,.
7. Dying
Dying is also done manually batch by batch of desired colors. Experienced dyers carries the dying work very patiently. Only metal and AZO free dyes are used to maintain eco-friendly environment. Pashmina is exceptionally absorbent and get dyed easily deeply and personally. The products are then washed and dried for next process.
